GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE TOHO ACADEMY ADVENTURE GAME
( Are we all sitting comfortably ? Right, little morphs.....)
MOVING AROUND.
In any location, directions of travel may include the 8 compass points,
plus UP, DOWN, ENTER and EXIT. To check, type LIST EXITS if unsure.
To examine a location, simply LOOK (or L).
INTERACTING WITH OBJECTS.
You might be able to do some of the following (if not, you'll find out.)
PULL PUSH TURN PLAY GET DROP WEAR REMOVE OPEN CLOSE EAT DRINK SHOOT FIRE.
To examine an object, simply EXAMINE (or EX) it. Remember, objects may
be located inside other objects. E.g. OPEN THE BOX AND LOOK INSIDE IT.
INTERACTING WITH CREATURES.
There are a large number of creatures on the island - some are
friends, some or foes, and it isn't obvious which are which. TALK TO
(whoever) is handy unless they're obviously hostile, as is ASK (whoever)
ABOUT (specific subject).
Hostile creatures must be fought. Once encountered, they will hold
you in combat to the death. For each foe, there is a specific weapon - but
several foes might be vulnerable to that weapon. Bear in mind that an
initially friendly creature can turn hostile if attacked !
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS.
As you wander mindlessly around the island, you and your companions will
probably acquire various items - and get variously injured ! To check on
your current state, INVENTORY (I) and EXAMINE SELF (EX SELF). When you
take damage, you can HEAL yourself and others, with varying chances of success.
HELP (H) may provide useful advice - and it will cost a point.
SAVE and RESTORE should be used often, unless you really LIKE retracing
your steps. SCRIPT sends a hard copy on your printer, UNSCRIPT cancels.
As a hint - be sure you have fully explored each section before you
move on. When you discover you need an item, it's generally too late to
go back and look for it !
EXAMPLE OF TYPICAL TURN:
The room is pitch dark. You cannot see a thing.
TURN TORCH ON
You turn the torch on.
You see a damp cellar. On a stone slab there is a large mouldering box.
OPEN THE BOX AND LOOK INSIDE IT
The box is now open.
With a fearsome squeak, an Undead Chaos Kare Bare leaps out of the box !
EXAMINE BARE
The Bare is a fearsome sight. Its stuffing is oozing out of leprous and
threadbare plush as it moves to attack!
FIGHT BARE WITH PLUSH SOLVENT
You throw the solvent over it. With a dismayed howl, it vanishes into a
cloud of green smoke. Congratulations !
Get the idea ? If in doubt, try it. There's LOTS of things you can
do on your first day at ......... TOHO ACADEMY !
